Face of a Stranger, by Anne Perry
I did mention that I love historical mystery. This is as much a psychological treat as
a mystery. The social and political world of Victorian London provides a rich and
textured backdrop to amnesia victim Monk's quest for his identity , and a murderer. Add in a love
interest in the form of Hester Latterly, a nurse just returned from the Crimea War
and you have a fascinating read where motives are never simple and people are neither
good nor bad.
